Initial funding enabled us to purchase all the equipment for the center, train call center staff and get the lines set up. The 572 call center is now an integrated component of the comprehensive support that KOFAVIV provides to its members, and all women and girls who are victims of gender-based violence. They have dedicated staff to answer calls, direct callers to medical care, and provide accompaniment when and where possible. Since the call lines were launched over a month ago, they have fielded calls from police precincts, the general hospital and women who learned about 572 from KOFAVIV agents who work in the camps.

Following our most recent strategic planning session with KOFAVIV, they decided to expand outreach for the call center, so that they can reach more women and girls throughout Port-au-Prince. At the current volume of calls, KOFAVIV is able to sustain services regardless of whether more money is raised, from the support they have already secured. With the additional funding we're seeking, they will be able to widely promote the service
in the camps. Additionally, the funds will sustain our staff person in Haiti, KOFAVIV's call center staff and provide funds for transport and
accompaniment of victims through the next year. Sustainability of the
call center was really important to KOFAVIV, us and our donors, which is
why it is tied to KOFAVIV's committed work in the first place.

Let us know if you have more questions!
Emily

Re: Announcing 572: the First Emergency Response System Dedicated to Sexual Violence in Haiti

I'm a little confused - the system is live but has no funding? With the change of Ukrainian political system in the 90s, we have received a unique opportunity to use all benefits of capitalist system. Who is guilty that we always cry for having no money and do not look for any investors and randomly participate in projects competitions?
